Editorial and Peer-Review Process

Each submission to FFS passes through a strict quality control and peer-review evaluation process before accepting.

Criteria for publication in FFS are as follows:
- The study presents the results of primary scientific research or is oriented for such a research or provides the nature protection with scientifica arguments
- Results reported have not been published elsewhere
- Experiments, statistics, and other analyses are performed to a high technical standard and are described in sufficient detail
- Conclusions are presented in an appropriate fashion and are supported by the data
- The article is presented in an intelligible fashion and is written in standard English, or in Slovak or Czech languages with English abstract.

Once the manuscript has passed quality control, it is assigned to a editor of journal, who takes responsibility for the submission. The Editor is responsible for conducting the peer-review process and for making a decision to accept, invite revision of, or reject the article.

Most articles accepted for publication are being sent for review by external experts, small portion are peer reviewed by the editors themselves (in consultation with other members of the Editorial Board) when they are sufficiently expert in the field.

Principally, all accepted articles are peer-reviewed by at least two experts (by editor and by external peer reviewer).
